It's what I'm enjoying most about CCDOW so far. I'm really enjoying all the changes. Especially love what has been done with Sheila and Darryl, and so proud of Prue for telling the secret this early. And Sheila being a female friend to the sisters is just so great. I Can't wait to see where it goes from here. It was important to us to not have any of the sisters have a romantic relationship at the beginning of the series (outside of Jeremy who was vanquished right away), since unlike the rip-off, we thought it was more important to get to know the sisters. Andy didn't take over the way I've heard the significant others have in the rip-off or like Cole and Chris did in the alternate-universe spin-off most fans count as S4-8, but we still thought it better this way. And if we didn't bring Sheila in right away, we were afraid readers would think that Prue and Darryl would be a couple, the way Prue and Andy were. The fact that it gave the Charmed Ones a recurring female friend - something the canon sisters never had - and helped make it more female-centric was a very nice bonus. That's also why even though we let Piper have a relationship with Mark, we stuck with canon in letting him die. PVILLE: I'm so very glad this is the case with CCDOW. Getting to know the sisters always comes first, that is what you want to do in a series with its leads. The CW's version really has taken such a hit and really would not be surprised if it doesn't make it to Season Four, if that is what they have decided to do. I love all the changes you made, it really feels so female-centric, and at the same time, the co-stars are here to support our leads. I like what you did with Piper and Mark, it made his death have an impact. Well done!

Here's tonight's episode: PVILLE: I noticed it is James Read here right away. PVILLE: And this chat Prue has with Victor is so special. Love Prue pointing out how lucky Sheila is to have a husband like him. PVILLE: Good on you Patty, looking out for them. It's so interesting that although they were raised by Grams and she died just before the series, that they gave more hints and Patty seemed to look out and prepared them than Grams, with the message on the spirit board and the page in the book on the Demon of Fear she left. PVILLE: Those Shapeshifters always gave me a good laugh, especially the dog woman. LOL I hope you keep some continuity so the immunity ring doesn't disappear. PVILLE: Hello Leo. I'm so glad, he doesn't show up until AFTER Mark dies, makes sense. Piper feels a strange feeling around him, that is interesting, can't put my finger on what it could be.
PVILLE: An iconic ending. Love this one so much. Reminds me of Carina's Christmas episode, and how great it could have been if Charmed had just one Christmas episode. ------------------- ES: Hehehehe! Did you guess that one of the reasons for renumbering the episodes was so Leo could show up (although I promise he won't be around for long and no way he'll marry Piper or have Wyatt and Chris!) AFTER Piper meets and loses Mark... PVILLE: I did guess that. I'm so glad that you won't be going the way of canon with Piper and Leo.

I see you lot cast James Read, instead of Tony Denison for your version. Well, most fans prefer James Read, so this works.
Another role for a Daryl. Of course, he wasn't even in the canon episode.
Pretty much follows the plot of the canon episode here, with a few tweaks, of course.
Imagining James Read doing this scene. I think he'd do a great job.
So, what role will Leo play. You said that you won't have him and Piper getting married (and no Charmed Sons). Hmmm..

It's Sunday, so time for the next episode! But it's storming and my apartment building is known for losing electricity. I hope not, since it means I might miss the re-read tonight and I love the episodes we're doing - our Christmas one which is based on the one Carina wrote which is based on the EC one and, as the Saturday group titled it, "Four Witches and a Baby". But just in case we do lose electricity, I decided to do this first rather than EC and the discussion about the reboot as I normally would. So if there's no responses to any of them, I will when the electricity comes back. PVILLE: I noticed it is James Read here right away. ES: Yup. Personally I would've preferred Tony Denison, but I got outvoted. Of course, what I really didn't like was him getting a cast card: "Guest Starring Tony Denison as Victor Halliwell", meaning Penny was never a Halliwell and Patty didn't become one until she married him. But again, I got outvoted. James Read's Victor just seemed too fatherly to me - I can't see him leaving the girls, while I can see Tony Denison's Victor doing that. But one thing we all agreed on is that we didn't like them switching actors or switching names, so he's Victor Bennett (Grrr!) right away. Saturday didn't use this episode (which is why they could use the videotape in their Christmas episode...) so they for sure will just use James Read as Victor Bennett when he shows up in S3. PVILLE: And this chat Prue has with Darryl is so special. Love Prue pointing out how lucky Sheila is to have a husband like him. ES: And we loved making him a husband that made her lucky to have3 him, while making Sheila someone he was lucky to have as a wife. PVILLE: Good on you Patty, looking out for them. It's so interesting that although they were raised by Grams and she died just before the series, that they gave more hints and Patty seemed to look out and prepared them than Grams, with the message on the spirit board and the page in the book on the Demon of Fear she left. ES: But was it Patty? The Charmed Ones think so, but will Team Charmed Cafe let her be the one or will we follow canon and let Penny be the one? I guess you'll just have to keep reading... PVILLE: Those Shapeshifters always gave me a good laugh, especially the dog woman. LOL ES: Hehehehe! Us, too. Although I'll admit I wouldn't have minded if they'd stuck around for a while - maybe doing things BEFORE Victor showed up... ------------ PVILLE: I hope you keep some continuity so the immunity ring doesn't disappear. ES: The fun part about doing press releases - you can pretend that whatever you wanted to happen happened as long as it doesn't mess up later continuity. We tried REALLY hard not to do that - part of why we're doing our re-read - on the lookout for inconsistencies! Of course that was easier for us since we stuck closer to canon. PVILLE: Hello Leo. I'm so glad, he doesn't show up until AFTER Mark dies, makes sense. Piper feels a strange feeling around him, that is interesting, can't put my finger on what it could be. ES: Hehehehe! Glad you noticed that! Can't wait until you find out why that's the case... ------------- PVILLE: An iconic ending. Love this one so much. Reminds me of Carina's Christmas episode, and how great it could have been if Charmed had just one Christmas episode. ES: Amen! I'm glad Saturday's group was able to use it as part of their Christmas episode which was based on Carina's which was based on EC. Unfortunately since we already used it here, we couldn't do it then. ES: Glad that you guessed it. ------------ PVILLE: I'm so glad that you won't be going the way of canon with Piper and Leo. ES: Nope, most definitely not! No way those two scene-stealers (Wyatt and Chris) will be part of ours. IF there are kids in either version, she'll be a regular witch with no whitelighter powers or whitelighter-related powers. No, I shouldn't say that. I know Sunday won't do that. I'm not certain if Saturday will, especially since they've already used halves when we've agreed that we won't, one of the major differences in the two versions since their Peyton is a half-demon half-sister while ours is Darryl's partner and has no powers - and that they have the Power of Four while we have the Power of Three.

PVILLE: Sunday! You better believe, I was waiting for it to be posted.
Oh no, I sure hope you don't get a storm. I see you replied to this and posted a new episode, so thankfully nothing has happened yet.
I hope you enjoy the re-read with the group tonight.
PVILLE: That's too bad, I was hoping you guys would correct it, and let Victor be a Halliwell. Even letting Penny be a Warren or something. Oh well.
-------------------
ES: James Read's Victor just seemed too fatherly to me - I can't see him leaving the girls, while I can see Tony Denison's Victor doing that.
PVILLE: That is very true. I don't get why they recast Victor. He came across as a father who would never leave his children. I liked James Read as their father, but not with all the backstory we got with Grams. Maybe James Read needed to play Victor a bit differently.
-----------------
ES: But one thing we all agreed on is that we didn't like them switching actors or switching names, so he's Victor Bennett (Grrr!) right away. Saturday didn't use this episode (which is why they could use the videotape in their Christmas episode...) so they for sure will just use James Read as Victor Bennett when he shows up in S3.
PVILLE: I'd personally wish he was Victor Halliwell, and Penny was something else. But that's just me.
I'm glad Saturday's group found a use for the videotape in their Christmas episode.
PVILLE: And this chat Prue has with Darryl is so special. Love Prue pointing out how lucky Sheila is to have a husband like him. ES: And we loved making him a husband that made her lucky to havee him, while making Sheila someone he was lucky to have as a wife.

ES: But was it Patty? The Charmed Ones think so, but will Team Charmed Cafe let her be the one or will we follow canon and let Penny be the one? I guess you'll just have to keep reading...
PVILLE: You might just be right, since the Charmed Ones thought so, and we're watching the series through their eyes, so they thought so, not that it was Patty. I'll just have to keep reading. PVILLE: Those Shapeshifters always gave me a good laugh, especially the dog woman. LOL ES: Hehehehe! Us, too. Although I'll admit I wouldn't have minded if they'd stuck around for a while - maybe doing things BEFORE Victor showed up...
PVILLE: That could have been cool Es, and also made a cool little arc, if they had been around for a while, before they learned who they really were.
PVILLE: They really is true isn't it. I sure hope you guys can keep it consistent. Good luck with your re-read, and doing that is so worth it. Also I'm sure you guys, want a bit of a break from watching Charmed in general.
PVILLE: Me too, I can't wait to see what it means.
PVILLE: I'm glad at least one group was able to do it. But you had the videotape so it counts as something Christmas in a way still. Will your group consider doing a Christmas episode at some point.
------------------- ES: Hehehehe! Did you guess that one of the reasons for renumbering the episodes was so Leo could show up (although I promise he won't be around for long and no way he'll marry Piper or have Wyatt and Chris!) No way those two scene-stealers (Wyatt and Chris) will be part of ours. IF there are kids in either version, she'll be a regular witch with no whitelighter powers or whitelighter-related powers.
PVILLE: I'm so happy to hear it, and if they have a kid, it will be a regular witch power.
--------------------
ES: No, I shouldn't say that. I know Sunday won't do that. I'm not certain if Saturday will, especially since they've already used halves when we've agreed that we won't.
PVILLE: I forgot about Saturday and halves. Still just because they use halves, I'll hope, they won't let a kid have any whitelighter powers, but since they have a half-demon, they already have in that regard. I love a half-demon than a half-whitelighter. I guess, I'm hoping they decide to let whitelighters not be able to have kids.
---------------------------
Es: one of the major differences in the two versions since their Peyton is a half-demon half-sister while ours is Darryl's partner and has no powers - and that they have the Power of Four while we have the Power of Three.
PVILLE: I like the differences here. I'm glad both these groups are doing things pretty different, otherwise, it sure would get confusing. But, not really hard, since one has a Power of Four while the other has a Power of Three.
But, it must be fun working on one, while getting to enjoy the other groups stuff.

Es: And here's today's episode: PVILLE: Love this tagline. PVILLE: And I was a fan of this episode, and really did like Matthew. It's too bad, this episode would have made a great two-parter. Especially if we got more flashbacks into Matthew and Melinda, but I don't know if I could handle seeing Melinda being burned, so maybe it is better they didn't. PVILLE: I love Melinda. PVILLE: I see changes here, love that Darryl knows the secret here, so all the parts I hated when he didn't know are gone. But I still like that he can't go against his morals regardless if he knows she is a witch. PVILLE: That ending scene really was special, I remember I cried when I first watched it. Don't know why, it felt very season finale like to me, with how they wrote it, acted it, and the amazing music score used. One of my favorite moments from S1.
I sure hope this isn't the last time you use Melinda.
I'm off watch that scene now Es. Reading this made me want to see it again.

Season 1, Episode 10: "The Witch is Back"
How did Prue get the locket. In this reality, Rex doesn't exist, so he couldn't have brought it to her.
Pretty much like the canon episode here.
Nice Darryl subplot here. He knows the sisters are doing good, but he still has his own morals.
Of course, they never did. Tyler Layton retired from acting not long after (according to Wikipedia, she is currently teaching theatre at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX.)
Of course, that won't stop you lot from bringing Melinda back, if you so desire.

The fun of doing press releases - we didn't have to figure that out.
But I much prefer Saturday's version. In theirs, Roger sticks around a lot longer than he did in ours. In this episode, he's revealed as Matthew's great-great-great-great-grandson and he's the one who gives the locket to Prue. He's also the one who helps his ancestor. SOOO much better than those horrible scenes between Canon Hannah and Canon Matthew!
Part of why I hate her so very, very much and why we agreed that she should never be part of a Team Charmed Cafe project.
Now Rex...since he's one of my all-time favorite villains who I love to hate (especially because he's nothing like your Gary Stu version, just like Canon Hannah's nothing like your Mary Sue version, hence why they're NOT the warlocks everyone loves to love, just you and your few sycophants)...that might be another story...although I'm sure you'd hate how we'd use him, since we'd make him even more evil than he is in S1 and be sure he never turns good because he never wants to turn good, just like Canon Rex in the real Charmedverse, the reason why your Gary Stu does NOT live in it, but lives in the Timverse, the way all of my fanfic characters live in the Esverse and all of these live in the CCDOWverse.

Sounds like they had Roger more or less fill Rex's role, with the added twist of having him a descendant of Matthew (which meant that Matthew had kids at one point). Better than the Canon Roger.
Esmeralda, if you lot want to introduce a version of Rex, go for it. I couldn't stop you even if I wanted to (and I don't).

ES: It's Sunday, so time for the next episode! First, just a quick update on my city, Minneapolis. VERY happy to say that nothing burned last night. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, MINNESOTA NATIONAL GUARD and Governor Walsh for closing freeways leading into Minneapolis and for setting an 8:00 curfew and then warning those still out (including those protesting peacefully) for 45 minutes before using tear gas to scatter them. They were warned...If you want to practice civil disobedience, you MUST be willing to take the consequences. We did when I was one of those who protested the Viet Nam war back in the early 70s, so any complaints fell on my deaf ears. Okay, back to more fun stuff - SO great to have CCDOW as a weekend distraction! PVILLE: That's too bad, I was hoping you guys would correct it, and let Victor be a Halliwell. Even letting Penny be a Warren or something. Oh well.
ES: No, if Penny was a Warren, then Patty and the sisters would've had to be Warrens. Saturday's group corrected it by having Melinda Warren be Melinda Halliwell, but our group didn't.
ES: That's what I'm hoping we get to bring out in our version i- that the reason why Victor stayed away is that Penny used magic to keep him away, so he was able to return once Penny died and the spell to keep him away is no longer in effect. Then I can accept him as Victor.
ES: Me, too. I always wanted Penny to be Penny Johnson, since that's what's shown on one of the many family trees.
---------------- PVILLE: I'm glad Saturday's group found a use for the videotape in their Christmas episode.
ES: I love it at the end of that episode much more than this one at the end of ours, but then I totally ADORE their Christmas episode, especially how they added their half-sister, Peyton, to the story, letting her go back in time and see when Penny and Patty decided to give Peyton to Penny's younger sister Phoebe (GA) to raise, while the Halliwell sisters went on a time-travel trip of their own and learned the real meaning of Christmas. Unfortunately it didn't fit our version and obviously we *did* use this episode, so we couldn't do the same thing.
PVILLE: And this chat Prue has with Darryl is so special. Love Prue pointing out how lucky Sheila is to have a husband like him. ES: And we loved making him a husband that made her lucky to havee him, while making Sheila someone he was lucky to have as a wife. PVILLE: ES: PVILLE: Good on you Patty, looking out for them. PVILLE: You might just be right, since the Charmed Ones thought so, and we're watching the series through their eyes, so they thought so, not that it was Patty. I'll just have to keep reading. ES: PVILLE: Those Shapeshifters always gave me a good laugh, especially the dog woman.
ES: I think so. Had Saturday used them, they might've let them stick around for a few more episodes. With us trying to stay close to canon, it didn't make sense.
PVILLE: They really is true isn't it. I sure hope you guys can keep it consistent. Good luck with your re-read, and doing that is so worth it. Also I'm sure you guys, want a bit of a break from watching Charmed in general.
ES: Well, if you ever notice something that's inconsistent with the rest of our version of Charmed (not with canon Charmed, since we do that A LOT as we fix what we count as mistakes), be sure to let me know!!
PVILLE: Hello Leo. I'm so glad he doesn't show up until AFTER Mark dies, makes sense. Piper feels a strange feeling around him, that is interesting, can't put my finger on what it could be. ES: Hehehehe! Glad you noticed that! Can't wait until you find out why that's the case... PVILLE: Me too, I can't wait to see what it means.
ES: You'll have to wait a few episodes...but you will!
PVILLE: I'm glad at least one group was able to do it. But you had the videotape so it counts as something Christmas in a way still. Will your group consider doing a Christmas episode at some point?
ES: All I can say to that is we'll see. I don't want to say too much about what we've planned so I don't spoil anything.
ES: Glad that you guessed it. PVILLE: ES: ------------ PVILLE: I'm so glad that you won't be going the way of canon with Piper and Leo. ES: Nope, most definitely not! No way those two scene-stealers (Wyatt and Chris) will be part of ours. IF there are kids in either version, she'll be a regular witch with no whitelighter powers or whitelighter-related powers. PVILLE: I'm so happy to hear it, and if they have a kid, it will be a regular witch power. ES: --------------------
ES: No, I shouldn't say that. I know Sunday won't do that. I'm not certain if Saturday will, especially since they've already used halves when we've agreed that we won't,... PVILLE: I forgot about Saturday and halves. Still just because they use halves, I'll hope they won't let a kid have any whitelighter powers, but since they have a half-demon, they already have in that regard. I love a half-demon than a half-whitelighter. I guess I'm hoping they decide to let whitelighters not be able to have kids.
ES: That's what I would hope for, too. Dead men being able to sire children never made a lot of sense to me. It's why I'll always believe that had Ted King stayed with the show, so Leo would've only been part of S1 (hint...hint...hint), it would've been him and Prue who had Melinda in 'Morality Bites', so Melinda would just be a regular witch.
---------------------------
ES: ...one of the major differences in the two versions since their Peyton is a half-demon half-sister while ours is Darryl's partner and has no powers - and that they have the Power of Four while we have the Power of Three. PVILLE: I like the differences here. I'm glad both these groups are doing things pretty differently, otherwise, it sure would get confusing. But, not really hard, since one has a Power of Four while the other has a Power of Three.
But, it must be fun working on one, while getting to enjoy the other group's stuff.
ES: And that's part of the fun or doing the re-watch now. Thanks to a mistake on my part, we're first re-reading theirs and then we'll re-read ours. Now I'm glad for the mistake, because as you said, it makes it less confusing. Of course, since I'm editor for both versions, I know what each group has done. It's great fun to see the reactions from the Sunday group's to Saturday's version. We do love how they used the half-sister. For example, in Season 2, they get around the infamous triangle by having Jeremy (Piper's non-magical reporter boyfriend who knows her secret) play Canon Leo and having Jack (Peyton has a crush on him...) play Dan's role. If you had a chance to read the spoiler that I left, you have some idea how we got around the infamous triangle.

PVILLE: Love this tagline. ES: And that's what the canon episode used. I love it, too. ES: Saturday's group did turn it into a two-parter. We didn't because we had other ideas for that, as you'll see tonight... PVILLE: I love Melinda. ES: Me, too. My favorite character on Charmed, hence why I use her as my avatar here. I just wish she was dark-haired and her name was Melinda Halliwell. Since "Mom" was never supposed to be seen or named (my favorite Charmed writer, Sheryl J. Anderson, changed that with 'That 70s Episode') and in this episode, Prue says Melinda looks like "Mom", I always imagine Finola Hughes playing Melinda. PVILLE: I see changes here, love that Darryl knows the secret here, so all the parts I hated when he didn't know are gone. But I still like that he can't go against his morals regardless if he knows she is a witch. ES: Oh, yes, we had such fun letting Darryl already knowing the secret while Peyton doesn't. PVILLE: That ending scene really was special, I remember I cried when I first watched it. Don't know why, it felt very season finale like to me, with how they wrote it, acted it, and the amazing music score used. One of my favorite moments from S1.
ES: I'll always wonder if it would've been the last episode if the series hadn't been picked up for the full first season, because you're right - it does feel like a series ender. I wouldn't have minded if it ended here. --------------- PVILLE: I sure hope this isn't the last time you use Melinda.
ES: Well, since we're sticking close to canon, it might be. We'll see. There's a better chance that she'll reshow in Saturday's version. --------------- PVILLE: I'm off watch that scene now Es. Reading this made me want to see it again. ES: WOW! That's quite a compliment to ours! Thank you! Hope you enjoyed re-watching it.

ES: And here's tonight's episode - what would've been the last episode before the Christmas break. Now you'll see how we got around skipping some episodes... ES: Hehehehe! So was I right? Did you even come CLOSE to guessing that this was what's next? Of course, you know what the next one is - Part Two - and you won't have to wait a couple months to read it!

PVILLE: VERY HAPPY to hear that nothing serious happened last night. I've seen the news, and other states are starting to have some protests and such happening.
Now with those rules in place, I'm hoping the worse is behind us all. ES: Okay, back to more fun stuff - SO great to have CCDOW as a weekend distraction! PVILLE: Me too, so great!
PVILLE: Oops my mistake, that didn't come out right. I meant to say Patty takes the Halliwell name from Victor, and Penny would have to have another last name.
Penny took her first husbands name Halliwell, so Grams saying the women in this family keep their name, never made sense to me.
ES: That's what I'm hoping we get to bring out in our version i- that the reason why Victor stayed away is that Penny used magic to keep him away, so he was able to return once Penny died and the spell to keep him away is no longer in effect. Then I can accept him as Victor.
PVILLE: That really does work. I hope you can do that.
ES: Me, too. I always wanted Penny to be Penny Johnson, since that's what's shown on one of the many family trees.
PVILLE: That's the last name, that I couldn't quite remember. Thanks Es.
PVILLE: WOW! That sounds so exciting Es, and very fun. I can see why it didn't quite fit yours.
ES: I think so. Had Saturday used them, they might've let them stick around for a few more episodes. With us trying to stay close to canon, it didn't make sense.
PVILLE: Yeah, that wouldn't fit your group.
PVILLE: Okay Es, I'll let you know, if I see anything. PVILLE: ------------- PVILLE: An iconic ending. PVILLE: Thanks. ES: PVILLE: --------------------
ES: No, I shouldn't say that.
PVILLE: That really does sound true, especially because I didn't think Morality Bites fitted where it was aired, Leo comes back out of nowhere. Part of why it's hard to get back into Piper/Leo's story, the placement of this episode just doesn't' fit in with where the rest of early S2 lines up.
I wished it was Prue and Andy with Melinda being a regular witch.
PVILLE: That's so great that you guys do it that way with the re-reads you do. Seems they have had lots of fun with it, and getting around that triangle, perfect.

ES: And here's tonight's episode - what would've been the last episode before the Christmas break. Now you'll see how we got around skipping some episodes... PVILLE: YAY! Sunday which means a new episode. Now I get how you got around skipping some episodes. I like picturing this now in my head as the one before a break, and I see it is a two-parter, which fits even more with a cliffhanger. T Time to read. PVILLE: I love this novel, but been so long since I read it, so I'll be very interested how you made it fit yours. LOST IN TIME - The sisters are shopping and hanging out at the North Beach Shopping Mall, Prue (Shannen Doherty) laughing as Piper and Phoebe (Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano) battle whether Piper should buy a pair of boots—Phoebe thinks she should even if the price is out of Piper’s range; Piper’s not so sure. Part of her problem is that she has no one to show them off to. Ever since she was stuck in that hole in the sewer, she keeps thinking and missing Mark.
PVILLE: Poor Piper, still thinking about Mark. This fits so much better, I'd hate her jumping into bed with Leo right away. Another reason, I'm glad you skipped Wicca Envy, even if it doesn't fit since you cut out Rex and Hannah. Nice to see them shopping and being happy. PVILLE: Great casting with the demon. PVILLE: This whole sequence would have my so worried for Piper watching it, I'm sure. It already makes me excited to keep reading for what you have changed, as Phoebe went back in time in the novel. PVILLE: Now that would be a great spot to end the teaser on. :0 PVILLE: She just saw Melinda in the previous episode, so right away, love that she can figure out where she is. PVILLE: Another name I noticed from an episode I think you skipped. I'll assume you took some casting of people from episodes you skipped. So glad Piper was helped, otherwise, she'd be in trouble. PVILLE: I can only imagine how hard this would be for them, but can picture great sisterly moments here. PVILLE: Right to be scared Piper, but how cool to see her ancestors. PVILLE: Great casting choice for Prudence and her daughter. I love it, now it fits why you had her time travel. Prue and Phoebe did time travel alone in S2 and S3, so I really think you made the right choice for Piper to do it here. Now Piper knows for sure they are her ancestors. PVILLE: I wouldn't be so sure of that, Piper. PVILLE: So Piper to do all the cleaning and cooking. I love this change so much more than what happened in the real one with Phoebe. PVILLE: Phoebe is starting to change, not yet for Prue. PVILLE: Prue is right to be shocked. Phoebe, oh, things not looking good for you. PVILLE: Yes, that spell shouldn't be in the book. PVILLE: Prue is right, this isn't good. PVILLE: Piper won't disappoint, Prudence. PVILLE: Oh no, this isn't good. So nice to be remembered on this story from the books, as this part, I sure didn't remember. I'd be screaming at my television watching this. PVILLE: Prue really must be scared about Phoebe, and it has gone right to her head. PVILLE: Now that was a good spot to end part 1 on. I'm sure, I'd be screaming having to wait a whole month for the next one. ES: Hehehehe! So was I right? Did you even come CLOSE to guessing that this was what's next? Of course, you know what the next one is - Part Two - and you won't have to wait a couple months to read it! PVILLE: No way, this came no where near what I thought was next. Yes, the fun of reading, I don't have to wait that long for the next one. Great episode so far, I really enjoyed this one.

Now with those rules in place, I'm hoping the worse is behind us all. ES: So far it has been. There's been protests but they've all been peaceful with no looting or burning. It's succeeded enough that there's no longer a curfew. SO glad! Now I'm curious to see what changes (if any) are made thanks to these protests. I hope they don't get everything they want - I think totally getting rid of the good police along with the bad ones is STUPID! - and I hate the idea that if you don't like something, all you have to do is loot and burn to get it changed! Besides, something like that would help get Trump reelected, the LAST thing I want! We shall see... ---------------------- ES: Okay, back to more fun stuff - SO great to have CCDOW as a weekend distraction! PVILLE: Me too, so great! And we'd NEVER have Penny say what Canon Penny said. Now Saturday can and will, since all of their ancestors starting with Melinda ARE Halliwells. That's what I wanted for ours, but again, got outvoted. They wanted Melinda Warren so they got her.

PVILLE: WOW! That sounds so exciting Es, and very fun. I can see why it didn't quite fit yours.
ES: We just re-read that one last week and it's one of Sunday's all-time favorite Saturday episodes. But they haven't read Saturday's S2 finale yet, which combines 'P3 H20' and Morality Bites. That's MY favorite of their S2 episodes!
I'll be *SO* happy when they decide to fix all of the continuity errors in their S1 (thanks to them combining episodes) so I can try to convince Pheebs to post their version here! PVILLE: And this chat Prue has with Darryl is so special. Love Prue pointing out how lucky Sheila is to have a husband like him. PVILLE: Yeah, that wouldn't fit your group.
ES: Nope. I have a hunch others might end up liking theirs more than ours just because they DON'T stick as close to canon so things happen differently. I've always been afraid that people would find ours boring. Fortunately that hasn't happened yet. And since most of us don't like what happens in S3 with Cole and Phoebe, I have a hunch we won't stay as close to canon for that one! PVILLE: They really is true, isn't it. I sure hope you guys can keep it consistent. Good luck with your re-read, and doing that is so worth it. PVILLE: Okay, Es, I'll let you know if I see anything. ES: Of course, originally we did it because we thought members would be busy with vacations and other summer stuff and missing a re-read isn't as bad as missing a re-watch. Even though coronavirus changed that, we're sticking with this idea and we're all glad we are. PVILLE: Hello, Leo. I'm so glad he doesn't show up until AFTER Mark dies, makes sense. Piper feels a strange feeling around him, that is interesting. Can't put my finger on what it could be. ES: Hehehehe! Glad you noticed that! Can't wait until you find out why that's the case... ES: No, that one was aired out of order and we've never been able to figure out why. Even in order, it doesn't fit, part of why both groups skipped it at that point. As I said, Saturday used it as part of their S2 finale. We, the Sunday group, haven't decided where we want it yet. It might end up being part of our SERIES finale. We'll see. We just hate the fact that the sisters keep forgetting the lesson they learned in that episode and we don't want to use MB until/unless they do!
------------------
ES: It's why I'll always believe that had Ted King stayed with the show, so Leo would've only been part of S1 (hint...hint...hint), it would've been him and Prue who had Melinda in 'Morality Bites', so Melinda would just be a regular witch.

Oh, in case you're wondering, so far Saturday's Peyton's only power is to shimmer - which was one of their Melinda Halliwell's four power, but it was stolen by a demon. With Peyton as a half-demon, they use demons more than we do. Like EC, we only have Demons of while they don't.

ES: PVILLE: I love this novel, but been so long since I read it, so I'll be very interested how you made it fit yours. ES: So glad that you've read it and love it - it means you'll be more likely to notice the changes we made. PVILLE: Poor Piper, still thinking about Mark. This fits so much better, I'd hate her jumping into bed with Leo right away. Another reason, I'm glad you skipped Wicca Envy, even if it doesn't fit since you cut out Rex and Hannah. ES: *nods* A lot of why we didn't even try to change it. We hated having a warlock with that powerful of a power in the first season, especially because he wasn't an incarnation of Satan (as we're positive the Source was originally supposed to be until they decided to show him and vanquish him since, of course, Satan can't be vanquished by mere humans.) ---------------- PVILLE: Nice to see them shopping and being happy. ES: We learned that lesson from EC - we like having them get to just be regular women until the magical sticks its nose into their lives! PVILLE: Great casting with the demon. ES: Michael played so many magical baddies, we had to let him play this one! PVILLE: This whole sequence would have me so worried for Piper watching it, I'm sure. It already makes me excited to keep reading for what you have changed, as Phoebe went back in time in the novel. ES: Yup. Since Prue and Phoebe both had their chances to time-travel, we figured it was Piper's turn. PVILLE: Now that would be a great spot to end the teaser on. :0 ES: Oh, you are so right about that! PVILLE: She just saw Melinda in the previous episode, so right away, love that she can figure out where she is. ES: Yup, part of why we placed 'The Witch is Back' right before this one. PVILLE: Another name I noticed from an episode I think you skipped. I'll assume you took some casting of people from episodes you skipped. ES: Yup, Shawn played Josh, and since we skipped him, we decided to use him here. ------------ PVILLE: So glad Piper was helped, otherwise, she'd be in trouble. ES: Definitely! PVILLE: I can only imagine how hard this would be for them, but can picture great sisterly moments here. ES: Definitely! PVILLE: Right to be scared Piper, but how cool to see her ancestors. ES: Yeah, witches in Salem Town didn't live very long. I loved in the novel when Phoebe got to see her ancestors, and loved more how what happened in the past affected the future! PVILLE: Great casting choice for Prudence and her daughter. I love it, now it fits why you had her time travel. Prue and Phoebe did time travel alone in S2 and S3, so I really think you made the right choice for Piper to do it here. ES: Yup. Exactly why we did it that way. ------------- PVILLE: Now Piper knows for sure they are her ancestors. ES: PVILLE: I wouldn't be so sure of that, Piper. ES: Hehehehehe, that's just because you know what's going to happen... PVILLE: So Piper to do all the cleaning and cooking. I love this change so much more than what happened in the real one with Phoebe. ES: Yet another reason why we decided to have it be Piper who time travels. PVILLE: Phoebe is starting to change, not yet for Prue. ES: And again you can say that because you've read the book. And Piper did change first. PVILLE: Prue is right to be shocked. Phoebe, oh, things not looking good for you. ES: Gotta admit - I wish someone who hadn't read the book would read and reply. Not so much fun for me reading your comments when you know what's going to happen - you're not in the least-bit worried because you know things will work out. ES: Yup, this was all in the book. PVILLE: Prue really must be scared about Phoebe, and it has gone right to her head. PVILLE: Now that was a good spot to end part 1 on. I'm sure, I'd be screaming having to wait a whole month for the next one. ES: Hehehehehe, hence why they're called cliffhangers. Fortunately you don't have to wait but get to read it today. ---------- ES: Hehehehe! ES:

ES: And here's today's episode, the last half of our midseason two-parter. I'm posting this much sooner than usual, but I have a bunch of Real Life stuff to do before tonight's re-read, so I figured I better do this before church.

Interesting that you lot chose to adapt a novel, not an episode, this time.
Although you did make some changes. In the novel, it was Phoebe, not Piper, that went back in time.
And that novel mad many mistakes in regards to dates (like having Melinda die 20 years before she was even born). Glad to see that you fixed those.

PVILLE: VERY HAPPY to hear that nothing serious happened last night. I've seen the news, and other states are starting to have some protests and such happening.
Now with those rules in place, I'm hoping the worse is behind us all. ES: So far it has been. There's been protests but they've all been peaceful with no looting or burning. It's succeeded enough that there's no longer a curfew. SO glad! PVILLE: --------------- ES: Now I'm curious to see what changes (if any) are made thanks to these protests. PVILLE: Fingers crossed. Let's hope not, it's so very stupid and dumb alright. Like you brought up a while, I too just can't help thinking of Charmed now: The wrong thing done for the right reasons is still the wrong thing. The last thing I want is a Trump reelection too. ---------------------- ES: Okay, back to more fun stuff - SO great to have CCDOW as a weekend distraction! PVILLE: Me too, so great! ES: PVILLE: PVILLE: I noticed it is James Read here right away.
PVILLE: Oops my mistake, that didn't come out right. I meant to say Patty takes the Halliwell name from Victor, and Penny would have to have another last name.
Penny took her first husband's name Halliwell, so Grams saying the women in this family keep their name, never made sense to me.
ES: Me neither. But, yup, that's why we made Grams Penny Johnson Halliwell, so she became a Halliwell when she married Allen, letting Patty and the sisters be Halliwells. And we'd NEVER have Penny say what Canon Penny said. Now Saturday can and will, since all of their ancestors starting with Melinda ARE Halliwells. That's what I wanted for ours, but again, got outvoted. They wanted Melinda Warren so they got her.
PVILLE: I'm so very happy to hear that Penny won't say that. That really got on my nerves when she said that on Charmed.
Seems to have worked out, well, sadly not you getting outvoted. But, I see Saturday keeping their ancestors being Halliwells, well at least one group did that.
ES: PVILLE: -----------------
ES: But one thing we all agreed on is that we didn't like them switching actors or switching names, so he's Victor Bennett (Grrr!) right away.
ES: Me, too. I always wanted Penny to be Penny Johnson, since that's what's shown on one of the many family trees. PVILLE: That's the last name, that I couldn't quite remember. Thanks, Es. ES: PVILLE: ---------------- PVILLE: I'm glad Saturday's group found a use for the videotape in their Christmas episode.
PVILLE: Now that has got my curiosity, seems like they really went all out. Combining those two, and I'm sure it must be a powerful season finale.
---------------------
ES: I'll be *SO* happy when they decide to fix all of the continuity errors in their S1 (thanks to them combining episodes) so I can try to convince Pheebs to post their version here!
PVILLE: Please do, I'd love to read it, when they fix theirs at some point. PVILLE: You might just be right, since the Charmed Ones thought so, and we're watching the series through their eyes, so they thought so, not that it was Patty. I'll just have to keep reading. ES: PVILLE: PVILLE: Those Shapeshifters always gave me a good laugh, especially the dog woman.
ES: I think so. Had Saturday used them, they might've let them stick around for a few more episodes. With us trying to stay close to canon, it didn't make sense.
PVILLE: Yeah, that wouldn't fit your group.
PVILLE: Yeah, some people do find it boring. I sure don't, I find it fun to go along, and see what changes are made. I'm glad to hear you haven't had that yet.
Hearing you won't stick close to canon for Cole and Phoebe is music to my ears. PVILLE: They really is true, isn't it. I sure hope you guys can keep it consistent. Good luck with your re-read, and doing that is so worth it. PVILLE: I'm glad you all are happy with your decision. And also can't wait if you figure it out before we reveal it! PVILLE: Me, too, I can't wait to see what it means. ES: You'll have to wait a few episodes...but you will! PVILLE: ------------- PVILLE: An iconic ending. PVILLE: Thanks. ES: PVILLE: ------------------- ES: Hehehehe! Did you guess that one of the reasons for renumbering the episodes was so Leo could show up (although I promise he won't be around for long and no way he'll marry Piper or have Wyatt and Chris!) AFTER Piper meets and loses Mark... PVILLE: I did guess that. PVILLE: I'm so happy to hear it, and if they have a kid, it will be a regular witch power. ES: PVILLE: --------------------
ES: No, I shouldn't say that.
PVILLE: That really does sound true, especially because I didn't think 'Morality Bites' fitted where it was aired, Leo comes back out of nowhere. Part of why it's hard to get back into Piper/Leo's story, the placement of this episode just doesn't' fit in with where the rest of early S2 lines up.
PVILE: The sisters forgetting the lesson they learned really does make me so annoyed. Part of why, I find myself loving it, but at the same time, hating it, because it has little impact in the following seasons.
Using it as a series finale sounds really fun.
------------------
ES: It's why I'll always believe that had Ted King stayed with the show, so Leo would've only been part of S1 (hint...hint...hint), it would've been him and Prue who had Melinda in 'Morality Bites', so Melinda would just be a regular witch.
PVILLE: I wished it was Prue and Andy with Melinda being a regular witch.
ES: Me, too. PVILLE: ---------------------------
ES: ...one of the major differences in the two versions since their Peyton is a half-demon half-sister while ours is Darryl's partner and has no powers - and that they have the Power of Four while we have the Power of Three. PVILLE: I like the differences here. I'm glad both these groups are doing things pretty differently, otherwise, it sure would get confusing. But, not really hard, since one has a Power of Four while the other has a Power of Three.
But it must be fun working on one while getting to enjoy the other group's stuff.
ES: And that's part of the fun or doing the re-read now.
PVILLE: That's so great that you guys do it that way with the re-reads you do. Seems they have had lots of fun with it, and getting around that triangle, perfect. ES: Glad you think so! PVILLE: I'm glad that is her only power, if Peyton has that power, I guess Prue wouldn't need Astral Projection in theirs? Yeah, I'd imagine they'd be using demons more because of Peyton being a half-demon. Hopefully, they still don't get rid of warlocks like canon did later on. I like what you have done with yours with EC and CCDOW especially with the demons of.

I was busy replying to something else and now I'm tired, so I'll have to read part 2 another day. Since you already know what happens in that one, thanks to the book, since the only real difference is Piper being the one who goes to the past not Phoebe, it's okay if you don't have time to read and reply to that one.

I am compelled to point out that Victor's last name of Halliwell was never said out loud on the episode, it was only in the guest starring credits.
And didn't one of the family trees call him "Victor Jones"?

ES: And here's today's episode, the last half of our midseason two-parter. I'm posting this much sooner than usual, but I have a bunch of Real Life stuff to do before tonight's re-read, so I figured I better do this before church. PVILLE: Yes Piper, it taking so very long to make than modern-day, I can just see Piper and how she'd go on a rant. PVILLE: And I'm sure, she'd be thinking of Leo the whole time. PVILLE: Now, I'm thinking of the book, and how much smaller it would be. I'd often wondered, if the book has a way to magically add more pages to itself or something, like what happens when the book gets filled up. PVILLE: And I'm sure Shannen would kill the performance playing Prudence here. PVILLE: I can see how much fun Shannen and Alyssa would have playing bad. PVILLE: Oh, Martin was just so anoying, hated him, but you need someone like that in a show. PVILLE: Prue finally gave in. Even though, I read the novel, I forgot when that happened in the book. It has been a long time since I have. PVILLE: I love your name for the demon as Demon of Time Changes, since I'm sure The Demon of Time is your Tempus. PVILLE: I'm sure I'd be crying with them when they learn Piper is alive, because they'd knock it out with the emotional acting. PVILLE: Did you guys always decide to cast Shannen as Prudence in the story? PVILLE: So glad you guys figured out the dates better, I know the only thing the book did wrong was have the dates wrong. I'm so glad you allowed them to have a spell that allowed them to keep their powers in the past. I can't remember if that was what the book did or what you added but maybe the book may have been written before the episode 'All Halliwell's Eve' made it canon that they don't keep their powers in the past. PVILLE: YAY group hug. PVILLE: Now, this is still accurate, they want to hang her, but Hugh suggests the cleanse to drown her. I wouldn't say the book went against true lore, since they still wanted to hang her, until he suggested that. PVILLE: Still can't help wondering how the chemistry between Piper and Prudence would be like, with Shannen and Holly. And I'm already attached to their growing bond here, and feel it more than I did had it been Phoebe and Prudence like the book. Might be because of you casting Shannen as Prudence, that I just know they'd do a good job. But, can't help feeling a big connection to it, and feel Piper's pain here. PVILLE: The Demon of Time Changes almost feels like the big bad of the first half of S1, even though he is in just two episodes. He's the strongest bad guy they have faced yet. PVILLE: No use for you now Hugh. I forgot the demon killed him. PVILLE: The power of folding really is cool, I just wonder if you guys will bring the powers in this one back for other warlocks. Now if you guys had Cole be a warlock, he could use that power to go back to the 1600s? PVIILLE: I'm wondering now where Prudence and Cassandra relocated and set up home next. PVILLE: I love this ending, and ending on a funny note just made me smile. Good job, I'm glad I forgot a few parts of the book towards the end, so it was nice to be reminded. And really liked it even more than the real book.
