While celebrating Team Charmed Cafe's 18th Month-Day, another member, Katie, and I had a discussion in the Cafe's shoutbox regarding the rip-off. I decided to share it here: PVILLE: Thanks for sharing this Es, of the discussion you had with another member named Katie. PVille: How cool would it be if the virtual reboot, which I love to bits outlasted the real one. And, I had mentioned watching the reboot, but gave up on it, but I never got to S2. In my mind, I see EC as the reboot that aired. Which brought me so much joy. PVille: And, I really love it too. EC got me hooked with their storylines, and plots, and how in depth the history of where it is set was explored, and my amazing leads. PVille: And, I likely never join this site, if it wasn't for fanfics. And EC or CCDOW do not exist, if The CW doesn't order that horrible reboot. PVille: Good like Team Charmed Cafe with S3. I'm enjoying my weekly dose of CCDOW, and am already excited for what this weeks episode will bring.

Excellent idea. Make it easier to tell which is which.

When I quote something from a different site, I prefer just that as part of the quotes so that anyone reading it knows what's from the other site. Of course, if you want to go to the Cafe thecharmedcafe.proboards.com and add your comments to the Shoutbox, you definitely can since visitors who aren't banned like Tim can post in the Shoutbox. I'm sure the members of Team Charmed Cafe would love to see your comments! For now, I've reformatted your post and added my comments. ES: And since it's Saturday, that means you'll get to do that tomorrow.

That's the irony of the whole thing. Hated as the reboot is (and I can now understand why that is), it did pave the way for EC and CCDOW.

I would have to say most likely not. The Cafe was barely hanging on until EC and then, CCDOW started. It was these projects that brought in some new members who wanted to take part.

I know the Katie and Jean did and I think Nightowl and Sasha did, but I'm not sure about the others, although I do know that the Charmed Family, Summer and Pheebs were there before EC started. PVILLE: Due to COVID-19, the television season will start in January not the fall, since they are not sure when they can start filming again and trying play it safe.
Supergirl isn't on, because it's lead actress Melissa is pregnant, so that is why it will be put on hold. They also have the new Superman and Lois series staring in January, the first Superman series since Lois and Clark. Although this one is focused more on Clark and Lois in their early 40s navigating married life and raising two children. I sure hope it has a light heart feel, and is nothing like the new Superman movies which were dark, but most people prefer Superman being darker and not like it used to be. I disagree.
It already got renewed for a third season I believe months ago. I'll wonder if they do try to do something to get the ratings up. If it doesn't work, may as well cancel this series after season 3.

PVILLE: I was wrong Es, I guessed 'The Fourth Sister', (one not used yet) but am very happy I was wrong, since I don't like that episode. And 'Witch is Back' made me happy, as I just finished watching a clip from 'Witch is Back', after reading.
Now, I can't wait to guess next weeks episode.

Me too. I hated the way the movies made Superman so dark.
Love the new TV Superman.

PVILLE: Something happened, and all the quotes disappeared. So I'll try and tidy it up for replying, Es. ES: Thank you so very much, PVille! Superman has always been my favorite superhero (although I don’t count the ones in the recent movies as the REAL Superman, but an alternate-universe one) so I’d be curious. I wonder if the kids will be half-super…) so if he’ll be the Superman I love (and if he’s married, I’d guess he would be), I’ll watch if it doesn’t conflict with other shows I watch. ------------ PVILLE: I sure hope it has a light-hearted feel and is nothing like the new Superman movies which were dark, but most people prefer Superman being darker and not like it used to be. I disagree. ES: I do, too. Everything seems to be darker lately – I don’t watch any of them. I think they send the wrong message – that it’s okay to be dark. I’ll never believe that and never watch a show where the leads are evil. -------------- ES: Does this mean that the rip-off is getting a third season? Wonder if they'll do anything like S4 or S6 to try to get ratings up. PVILLE: It already got renewed for a third season, I believe, months ago. I wonder if they do try to do something to get the ratings up. If it doesn't work, may as well cancel this series after season 3. ES: I’m surprised that it got a third season, but it sounds like they’re determined to keep it going. I wonder if they’ll be determined that it lasts as long as the original, even if it has low ratings. After all, that did happen to Classic Charmed. I’ll let you know that ‘The Fourth Sister’ is one of the ones we skipped, and you’ll see how we got around that next week… But I *will* tell you that we ended up combining it with an S2 episode we don’t like: ‘That Old Black Magic’ and came up with a episode that we really like and are very proud of. Oh, what the heck! It might include some spoilers (and I cut out some that weren’t necessary for the story) so I’ll put them in spoiler tags and let you and others decide if you want to read our combo episode: ES: I’m sure you noticed that this one is quite a bit longer than the ones you’ve been reading. That’s because my fellow Team Charmed Café members found the fan-written transcripts and have been cribbing off them. If you decide you won’t have enough time to read them, I might have to do for them what I did for them: Bold the changes so they can skim past the things that are the same and actually read what’s been changed, since that’s what they were most interested in. But I haven’t been doing that for the re-reads because part of that is looking for typos and inconsistencies that need fixing, which we’ve found quite a few. So that’s totally up to you guys (well, not Tim, of course, since I couldn’t care less what he thinks.)
But what did you think of how we combined those episodes? I love that it made it more female-centric and left off the yucky Blair Witches parts and the yuckier “Let’s hate Prue” parts. PVILLE: Now, I can't wait to guess next week’s episode. ES: Hehehehe! Bet you’ll NEVER guess that one!

If I were to hazzard a guess I'd say they want to make enough episodes for syndication.
Nice going, you lot. You fixed another sub-par episode, That Old Black Magic, that almost no one liked.

I guess we'll find out soon enough when it will air and what day. I love Superman so very much. I don't count the one in the recent movies as Superman either Es. But, I do have a soft spot for the animated series in the 90s, which I grew up loving. And my friends, are telling me to check out the direct to DVD animated films that have been released for the past decade. I'm very curious to see what they'll do with the kids myself, and if they'll be half-super. I haven't followed the comics or the recent ones closely to know, but I do think the newer ones they also have a son, so maybe they'll get inspired from that. But, with how many shows we've gotten over the years, this is the first one to explore marriage and children, than doing the origin story again. Although when Lois and Clark ended, they were married. PVILLE: So nice to see someone else who shares my opinion. I don't understand why they think dark means better. I don't like that message being sent out. And sad, that the newer generations this is what they are exposed to. Superheroes are suppose to be sending a positive message out, and a lead that is evil is just not what I want to see. Especially in these current times, that isn't what I want to see. PVILLE: I am too. I don't get it. Maybe if The CW finds more new fits from their CBS side of the production, they'll have no need to keep this going. Their WB shows seem to be doing so much better, but not the CBS ones. PVILLE: And I likely never join this site, if it wasn't for fanfics. And EC or CCDOW do not exist if The CW doesn't order that horrible reboot. ES: So very glad that that's what brought you in. I know a number of members at the Cafe who joined the Cafe either due to EC or CCDOW. I'm so very proud to be part of Team Charmed Cafe, even if it's only as its editor. PVILLE: It's so nice that even when something horrible is made, it can bring members together. You guys seem to be having so much fun with it. Have to wonder if half the members of Team Charmed Cafe would be around at the board, if it wasn't for EC and or CCDOW or the re-watches. ES: One of these days I'm going to take a look through the membership list and see how many did join in order to be part of Team Charmed Cafe. PVILLE: I hope you do one day. That would be interesting to find out. -------------- ES: I know that Katie and Jean did and I think Nightowl and Sasha did, but I'm not sure about the others, although I do know that the Charmed Family, Summer and Pheebs were there before EC started. But that leaves a good number of members who were also there before it started and are still there and very active, but for whatever reason, haven't joined Team Charmed Cafe, although some of them are still writing their own reviews of the episodes we re-watch. PVILLE: I found this interesting. Thanks for sharing. ES: PVILLE: ---------------- PVILLE: Good! I like Team Charmed Cafe with S3. I'm enjoying my weekly dose of CCDOW and am already excited for what this week’s episode will bring. ES: And since it's Saturday, that means you'll get to do that tomorrow. PVILLE: I can't wait. Especially because you are not following the canon order, so I'll have to guess what episode you are going to use next. So much fun. ES: I'll be very curious to see if you guessed this one correctly. PVILLE: I was wrong, Es. I guessed 'The Fourth Sister', (one not used yet) but am very happy I was wrong, since I don't like that episode. And 'The Witch is Back' made me happy, as I just finished watching a clip from 'The Witch is Back' after reading. ES: Cool! PVILLE: LOL, I'm not at all upset you skipped it. But now hearing that you managed to combine it with another episode, I'm really quite interested to see what you did. --------------- ES: Oh, what the heck! It might include some spoilers (and I cut out some that weren’t necessary for the story) so I’ll put them in spoiler tags and let you and others decide if you want to read our combo episode: PVILLE: Now you have me interested. I sure hope, I'll have time this morning to check it out. PVILLE NOTE: I don't think I'll have time to read the whole thing this morning, with work today, and quote and review it. I'd like to do that when I have time, so I can review it all. So watch this space for when I can.<spoiler> ES: I’m sure you noticed that this one is quite a bit longer than the ones you’ve been reading.
</spoiler> PVILLE: Now, I can't wait to guess next week’s episode. ES: Hehehehe! Bet you’ll NEVER guess that one! PVILLE: Now, you have me excited for the next one. I do have a feeling you may likely skip Wicca Envy, since Rex and Hannah are not in CCDOW. So I'll just take a guess and say the next one is 'Secrets and Guys'? [/quote]

That is the most likely scenario.
Of course, they may do their own Wicca Envy, just with different antagonists.

ES: I went ahead and deleted the parts that we both smileyed to prevent this from becoming too big. Carina and/or Deidre, if you want to reply to PVille's post above this one, I'll add it to this one the next time I reply. PVILLE: And I really love it, too. EC got me hooked with their storylines, and plots, and how in depth the history of where it is set was explored, and my amazing leads. ES: Had the rip-off been more like this, I'm sure it would last as long as our virtual reboot. Now I'll be very surprised if it does. PVILLE: Me, too. I would be very surprised if The CW's lasts that long. From what I hear, it is doing so badly, but The CW seems to have faith in it, or is just trying to meet the CBS side of the network with shows. Maybe if it were a WB production it wouldn't have made it past Season One. I hear it's moving back to Sunday next season, but some think it is just filler until Supergirl comes back, and then will go back to Fridays. Due to COVID-19, the television season will start in January not the fall, since they are not sure when they can start filming again and trying play it safe. ES: Ah, gotcha. That makes sense. Another thing about our wonderful alternate universe – no COVID-19 in that world—our S3 started in the fall of 2020. PVILLE: Isn't that just so good, that the wonderful alternate universe will not have that problem, and will start S3 in the fall of 2020. ES: AMEN! It's fun to think how much fun we're having in that alternate universe. Since Shannen is in each of EC's seasons, that's gotta mean she doesn't have cancer which would be SO fantastic, especially if it means that she and Holly are still friends. ------------- PVILLE: They also have the new Superman and Lois series starting in January, the first Superman series since Lois and Clark. Although this one is focused more on Clark and Lois in their early 40s navigating married life and raising two children. ES: I’ll wait and see what others think of it, but depending upon when it’s aired, it might be the first The CW show that I’ve watched. Superman has always been my favorite superhero (although I don’t count the ones in the recent movies as the REAL Superman, but an alternate-universe one) so I’d be curious. PVILLE: I'd love to see what you think of it, if you tune in, I'll be doing the same. I'm not sure the time-slot and day, but since the Charmed reboot is moving to Sunday as a filler slot for Supergirl, I won't be surprised they put Superman on that day, but from memory I think the old Lois and Clark show was a Sunday or Monday series. I guess we'll find out soon enough when it will air and what day. ES: If I'm remembering properly, it was on Sundays, so it *would* be fun for it to be back on there, but not fun for me because I have shows I like on Sunday night that I'm pretty sure would be back. But that makes sense if Supergirl would go back to that night. ----------- PVILLE: I love Superman so very much. I don't count the one in the recent movies as Superman either, Es. But, I do have a soft spot for the animated series in the 90s, which I grew up loving. And my friends, are telling me to check out the direct to DVD animated films that have been released for the past decade. ES: And me, I first started loving him in the original black-and-white Superman TV show in the 1950s - I'd never miss it! I so love how George Reeves played both him and Clark, just like how Christopher Reeves (to my knowledge, no relations) did. But I did watch the animated Superman and Friends and, yes, that was my Superman! ---------------- ES: I wonder if the kids will be half-super…) so if he’ll be the Superman I love (and if he’s married, I’d guess he would be), I’ll watch if it doesn’t conflict with other shows I watch. PVILLE: I'm very curious to see what they'll do with the kids myself, and if they'll be half-super. ES: We'll just have to wait and see. I *really* hope that they're either super or not super and not halves! Superheroes are suppose to be sending a positive message out, and a lead that is evil is just not what I want to see. Especially in these current times, that isn't what I want to see. ES: Agreed totally! -------------- ES: Does this mean that the rip-off is getting a third season? Wonder if they'll do anything like S4 or S6 to try to get ratings up. ES: I wish they'd wise up and just do The CW shows on The CW an especially call quits on all of reboots. But since no one seems interested in something brand-new, I doubt if that will happen. That's fine with me - I'll stick with my true crime cable shows which is what I'm into. In those, the good guys tend to be good while the bad guys tend to be bad and that's what I like best, like what we did with EC and what we plan on continuing to do with CCDOW. PVILLE: And I likely never join this site, if it wasn't for fanfics. And EC or CCDOW do not exist if The CW doesn't order that horrible reboot. ES: So very glad that that's what brought you in. ES: I understand totally! Like I said before, I can't wait until you have time to properly read and review it!
ES: I’m sure you noticed that this one is quite a bit longer than the ones you’ve been reading. That’s because my fellow Team Charmed Café members found the fan-written transcripts and have been cribbing off them. ES: Yep, you're right - both groups skipped 'Wicca Envy'. Saturday's group got around it by turning 'The Witch is Back' into a two-parter, and as I said, you'll see how we got around it this Sunday. Both groups thought that Rex's astral projection power was much too powerful for someone who was obviously just a mnion and Hannah, well, like I've said, no one wanted her anywhere NEAR CCDOW! We would've preferred Kern over her! I'll let you know that "Secrets and Guys" is definitely part of both versions, but, nope, that's not the next one!

They weren't related.
It was Christopher Reeve, not Reeves.
And "Reeves" was not the actual last name of the 1950's TV show actor, he was born George Keefer Brewer.
