I was just advised that this thread is supposed to be for reviews. Please be aware that this *is* a review and if you don't want to be spoiled, please don't read it. I wrote this the day that I got the comic. Here's my reaction towards Charmed #0, what could be called "The Book of Shadows" and what I call "Something Wicca This Way Came": I'm *very* happy.
I just got my copy of Charmed #0 - the people from The Source never called me or emailed me as they promised, but I went over and they had it. Unfortunately, they only featured one cover, the green one with full bodies and I prefer the other one. Typical.
Although some of it made me roll my eyes, all-and-all I'm happy with it and am planning on getting Charmed #1 when it comes out.
The main thing that irritated me is that it appears that Piper gets her whole family when Phoebe only gets her single daughter and Paige just her twins. Since Piper never even mentioned her daughter in her entry during "Forever Charmed", and Paige specifically mentioned a son she doesn't get to have, I don't feel like Prudence Melinda should exist in the comic book world. It just makes me feel like the comic book is going to be the continuation of "The Perils of Poor, Poor, Pitiful Piper" and if that's the case, I won't keep buying them for long.
But I thoroughly enjoyed all of the summaries, both of the sisters and the seasons, and was very curious by the spells that were chosen, wondering how many of them will pop up in future issues.
In the same way, I found it very interesting to see which storylines the authors chose to illustrate for each season - the spirit board for Season One; Phoebe burning for Season Two, Piper and Leo marrying for Season Three, the rebirth of The Power of Three for Season Four, Phoebe the mermaid for Season Five, Piper and Excalibur for Season Six, 40's Paige for Season Seven and The Ultimate Battle for Season Eight.
My other problem is that the writing doesn't sound like any of the sisters, not even their own pages, and why draw pictures of themselves? If they're going to include photos of Prue, Cole, Grams, Patty, Wyatt, Chris and Billie, I feel like they should've included photos of Piper, Leo, Phoebe, Coop, Paige and Henry. Actually I would've preferred photos of the latter and drawings of the ones who are gone, but I suppose that would've led to speculation as to whether those characters would return. If the ones in the pictures never return to the comics, I won't complain, as much as I love Prue, Grams and Patty.
It also irritated me that the season recaps are supposed to be written by one of the Charmed Ones, but each sister is always referred to by her name, not but "I", as Phoebe is in the writeup of Cole (and that's the one that sounded the least like the person writing it).
Especially where they use different fonts for each sister's page and continue to do this for the "Forever Charmed" page, I feel like each sister should've written a quick summary of what had happened to them, perhaps set up to sound like it had just been written at the end of that season with no idea of what was to come, so that even Prue could've written about Seasons 1 & 2.
But those are just irritations, not true complaints. All and all, I'm pleased and plan on getting Issue #1.

Here is my review , which I wrote a month ago on the Charmed Sons board : First thing I didn't like was the font in the beginning (Phoebe's and Paige's), but as you read more you get used to it. So, in the beginning they introduce us with the sisters. I must say I liked the part "In memoriam". After that came the Elders, Whitelighters, Angel of the Destiny... It really looks like one part of the Book of the shadows. Few very important spells, improtant demons...Authors wanted to show us some basic things in those 32 pages. The best part of this all were pages "Year one", "Year two"...That was a great idea. And they put nice pictures on every page from every season. At the end they put "Forever Charmed" page, from the last episode, where Piper, Phoebe and Paige wrote down everything...
I must say I didn't imagined it to be like this. It's just perfect!

I know this came out months ago, but I haven't given my opinion of the various comics, so I thought I would start with issue #0. Though I imagine most people reading this have already read issue #0, it's entirely possible that someone hasn't, so I'm going to use the spoiler tabs. When I heard that there was going to be a Charmed comic, I was at first skeptical. All we had were some drawings on deviantart which while good were still just drawings. It was intriguing that this guy was claiming to have submitted them for a comic, but I looked at the pictures in the link I was given and I didn't think much more about it for months. Then someone brought up the link, again. Once more I looked at the images and went along, thinking nothing more of it other than to note it had been a while since I first saw the images and there still was no official word colaborating what he said. I felt a little disapointed, but moved on. I forget where it was that I first heard that there really was a comic in the works. It was early in 2010, most likely on either The Charmed Cafe or TCS. My guess is that it probably was the Cafe. I remember thread after thread being opened until some people started pointing people to one central thread. We discussed every little image we could get, which was mostly the covers for issues #0-2. There was definite worry about the vines that were all over everything. I went to a co-worker who I knew bought comic books and asked him where he bought them from, so I could find a way to get my hands on copies. I then considered my options and decided I was just going to go into the full on. I went into the comic book store, absolutely terrified. Nervous as ever I went to the counter and asked the guy at the counter for assistance. I had been told to ask for Jason, I think, and it turned out Jason wasn't there. That didn't help my nervousness at all. I talked to his brother and co-owner and told him what I was interested in. I don't recall if he knew anything about it, but I do remember him getting out a catalogue and looking it up. He found information on issue #0 and issue #1. I talked with him about it and comment on how certain covers didn't really look like the girls and mentioned some things that had been discussed in the threads to that point. I debated and ultimately told him that I wanted to preorder one of each cover despite what I might or might not think of the likenesses on them. After that I left the store and breathed a sigh of relief that the encounter was over. It was nothing against him. I just don't deal well with meeting new people, especially if it matters for any reason what they think of me. Considering I intended to buy from him from now on, it mattered what he thought. The closer we got to the time when issue #0 would be released, the more excited I got. I really wanted to see this, to see what the world of Charmed looked like in comic book form. I didn't bother waiting to find out if the comic book store called me. I just went straight there after work and went in. That was when I finally met Jason. I glanced through it in the store and I went out to my car where I read through it. I already knew at that point what to expect. It was issue #0 and as such it was the summary of the TV series with little peaks at what was to come. By that point we'd already seen previews of stuff from issue #1. I can't say I was thrilled with it, but that was because I wanted something of the actually story. I appreciated the fact that it had summaries of the seasons. I loved that they included Prue and Cole (and even Andy by proxy, since he was mentioned in Prue's part). I loved the fact that the pages were made to look like it actually was The Book of Shadows. And I love how parts of the entries from Forever Charmed having been faded into obscurity, because they haven't happened yet and really who's to say that they have to (grant you most likely the people who own the rights to the show, but still). It was very intriguing to see what issues Paul Ruditis wanted to include for the highlight of each season and I loved the first page that looked just like the page from the BoS in the show. As a recap it was well done. As someone who knows the show, it's not all that much interesting, but nice as a keepsake and probably the closest I will ever get to actually having the BoS. And for new people, it's very valuable.

Paul Ruditis said that, if he could have, he would have ignored that flash forward. However, his hands were tied.

That's too bad. Will and Grace ignored their flashforwards when they brought it back. I sure wished Charmed was able to do that in the comics.
I'm not holding my breath for a Charmed revival. But if, and that's a big if, they did. I just can't see the revival working with nine children, way too many new characters stealing screentime from the stars. Unless said revival focused on Phoebe's three daughters.
I loved the comics though, Season 9 was a huge step-up from S5-S8.

Paul Ruditis did a good job in Winning Back the Crowd (a TV Tropes) that Kernus drove away.
However, his successor, Pat Shand (aka Kernus Mark II), undid all the goodwill that the fans gave the comics
