CARINA: Hi guys, I'm still with family and will be until New Year away. But, taking a break to go online, actually some of us here are wanting to check our social media accounts and all, which we have put on hold for a few days, and check emails. So I'm using this time before I return to Real Life, to pop on and share stuff to my Heritage family. I post and transcribe some excerpts from original scripts that are different from the aired episodes, or anything I notice that is interesting. And, a little surprise. I didn't even notice until now, until my sister was certain she bought me eight scripts not five, and she was right. I actually have Charmed Again Part 2 as well, turns out Part 2 was attached behind Part 1, I was wondering if that was the case, because some of the script were twice as thick. And two other scripts were attached to the back of some of them. So I actually have eight scripts not six. I looked through every one to make sure, some were not attached. I also went to office depot, and bought myself some folders, so I can house each script, and have them all placed in some nice pocket holders. Here are the scripts I have as follows: If you can't read the writing in the photo, the full eight are: 1. The Witch is Back 2. Witch Trial 3. All Halliwell's Eve 4. Just Harried 5. Charmed Again 1 6. Charmed Again 2 7. Trial By Magic 8. The Day the Magic Died
I'm going to post a few excerpts now, and then most of the rest when I get back from my trip and home.

OOO! That really is a great collection, even if I'm not nuts on 'Charmed Again 2." But it will be interesting to see what's changed in that one, along with the others.

Charmed Again Part 1
#62015-04-67 "Charmed Again" (pt. 1) 07/16/01 NOTE: Differences in Bold.
CHARMED
"Charmed Again, Part One"
TEASER
FADE IN:
INT. HALLIWELL MANOR - ATTIC - NIGHT As CAMERA PANS the dark and lonely room, past the familiar things that remind us of where we are, of what we've lost, over which we HEAR: Most of the dialogue with Piper is the same with saying the spell to try and bring Prue back.PHOEBE'S VOICE (Softly) Piper...
PIPER (hopeful) Prue...? She looks up at the candle, then sees: ANGEL - PHOEBE emerging from the shadows of the doorway with a concerned look on her tear-stained face.
PHOEBE Sweetie, it 4 o'clock in the morning... What are you doing. I'm so concerned about you?Piper doesn't answer, just stares blankly at the Book. PHOEBE (Cont'd) You're bleeding.
Piper doesn't notice, doesn't care. Phoebe finds a clean cloth, takes Piper's hand and wraps the wound.
PIPER I don't understand why magic can't fix this. And why we can't bring Prue back. It's not like we haven't cheated death before. I don't understand why this time isn't any different.
PHOEBE
Because Leo can't heal the dead, Piper. You know that.
PIPER There's other magic, magic that we've used before. (flips pages; fights the tears.) Scrying, calling a lost witch, reversing time. It's like the book just deserted us and deserted Prue, and I don't understand why.
In the script, after Piper tells Phoebe It's as if the Book's just deserted us, deserted Prue, and I don't understand why?, there is also these two lines that was cut: PHOEBE Honey, we tried everything.
PIPER And the past three days, that is all we've done. I'm not giving up Phoebe. I need Prue back, (then corrects herself) WE, need Prue back. How are we going to go on without her?Phoebe takes Piper's other hand, holds them both, shares her pain.
PHOEBE: We lost our sister, Piper -- how, can we ever understand that? We've tried every magical way possible to bring her back, but we can't she's gone. (through tears) I just thank God I didn't lose you, too. Their eyes well up as they face the harsh reality, then they fall into each other's arms. It's a nightmare neither one of them can ever wake up from. Finally, as they pull apart:
PHOEBE (cont'd) Co'mon, we'd better get some rest. Prue'll never forgive us if we look bad at her funeral.
Piper can't help but smile through her rears at that and stands.
PIPER I sure hope Prue will appreciate the service we have planned for her.
PHOEBE I'm willing to bet, she'll love the eulogy, we have written.
Piper look down at the Book of Shadows one last time before closing it. Arm-in-arm, they exit, shutting the door behind them. A beat, then a mysterious wind returns our attention to:
ANGEL - THE BOOK OF SHADOWS as the symbol on the cover, the triquetra, begins to GLOW, then the mysterious wind re-opens the book and magically turns the pages to the last spell Piper tried to cast, "To Call a Lost Witch..."
EXT. OFFICE COMEPLEC (CLINIC) - DAY
to establish, a modest, multi-tenant building on a treelined street.
INT. CLINIC - COFFEE/COPY ROOM - DAY
The noisy SOUND of a large copier making copies proceeds, the entrance of BOB COWAN, black, 40's, a man who hates the system but hates those who try to circumvent it even more, as he flings open the door with a overstuffed file in hand, calls out for:
COWAN Paige? You in here? Paige?
A beat, then PAIGE MATTHEWS, 24, sexy, feisty, lots of personality, pops up from behind the noisy copier, overly eagar: PAIGE Yeah, hi -- (turns off copier) What's up?
COWAN What's up?! What's up is I've been looking for you for ten minutes --- where the hell've you been?
PAIGE I've been here..making copies.
Cowan stares starts to scold her, but her tongue is faster: PAIGE (Con't) Wait, before you bark at me again for taking some initiative, let me remind you that you'd already told me I'm the best damn assistant you've ever had so, considering how little you pay me, you really ought to be nice to me if you expect to keep me around. Now, what were you going to say?
Cowan, flustered, shakes his head then: COWAN Just..find the in-home study we did on the Ferguson case for me, will you, please? Now...?
He drops the file on the table and exits. She lets out a relieved sigh, then as soon as the door closes, she looks behind the copier:
PAIGE You almost got me fired.
Then, SHANE, 26, cute in that dangerous sort of rock star way, pops up next to her with his shirt unbuttoned. He's still in the mood. SHANE SO? Thought you hated the job>
PAIGE NO, I like my job --- I just hate some of the jerks we have to deal with, especially the ones who abandon their kids. And, I really hope to excel and get a promotion one day.
SHANE (Nuzzling her neck) You're my hero.
Irritated, she pushes him off.
PAIGE Fine, Shane, great, thanks for the support. I gotta get back to work okay.
And she grabs the file and exits before he can protest.
INT. CLINIC - BULLPEN - DAY (CONTINUOUS)
as Paige enters her cubicles, which is cluttered with files, paperwork as well as a few personal items, most notably healing crystals and a little candle. Her usual whirlwind self, she sets the file down, knocks back some designer coffee, scrolls through her computer, finds the in-home study on disk, hits "Print" calls out to nobody in particular:
PAIGE Printing! Then, as she starts to get up, she notices, her candle curiously flicker. She shoots it a look then, dismissing it, gets up to retrieve the document from the printer across the way, but then a mysterious breeze blows past her and through her hair. Paige stops, wondering what that was.
Hearing something in her cubicle behind her, she turns to find a section of the local newspaper float to the floor and open. COWAN'S VOICE Paige? You find that study yet? But Paige's otherwise distracted by something she sees inside the newspaper, something disturbing. She leans down, slowly picks it up and sees:
INSERT - NEWSPAPER Specifically, the OBITUARY section. The first name reads: PRUE HALLIWELL. The first line reads: "Funeral Services will be held today at Memorial Cemetery, 11:00 a.m....""
RESUME - PAIGE
Who is curiously struck by that.
COWAN Did you hear me? PAIGE Sorry...it's in the printer (then realizes) I gotta go... COWAN What do you mean go? Go where? Frazzled, she grabs her purse, then ominously notices her candles's no longer lit. She bolts leaving Cowan calling after her: COWAN (Cont'd) Paige? Paige?? INT. UNDERWORLD - DAY
Cole SHIMMERS on the run, out of breath, in trouble. He looks around for an escape route, but before he can decide a LIGHTNING BOLT narrowly misses Cole's head. Cole keeps running.
DEMONIC BOUNTY HUNTER No escape. Your witch may have been able to get away, but you won't be so lucky.
Cole keeps running, and is finally cornered by several demons, and now realizes this could be it.
INT. HALLIWELL MANOR - PIPER'S ROOM - DAY
Piper sits alone by her dresser, wiping away tears. We feel her pain, and the emotional and painful day she is going to take.

But, I'm excited to see what's changed in that one. I can't wait for everyone to see the teaser of Charmed Again 1. I was going to just post the differences, but I ended up just giving you the entire teaser, with the differences in bold. Since, so much is different. I'm going to keep each episode in its own post, easier, for me, to be able to edit any other differences I notice, and update these posts each time.

"The Witch is Back" TEASER
FADE IN:
INT. JAIL – DAY
Chyron: Salem, Massachusetts, 1692. The plain, dirt-floor of the town jail. MELINDA WARREN, 30, beautiful and distraught, rubs a small velvet spell bag against the pewter locket she wears. Outside her cell, a Guard appears. As she unlocks the door to let the MAN behind him inside the cell, she quickly hides the spell bag in her pocket. The guard leaves as the man enters.
MATTHEW TATE – 30, handsome, strapping.
MELINDA Matthew?
He moves toward her. MATTHEW Hello, Melinda.
She backs away. MELINDA Why did you betray me?
MATTHEW You got what you deserve.
MELINDA I let you around my daughter.
MATTHEW
Your daughter, Prudence. I’ll be sure to give her your regards when you are gone.
MELINDA (getting angry) You leave her alone, Matthew. She did nothing to you. She’s only 10.
MATTHEW I’m not worried about her just yet.
MELINDA So you never loved me. All that passion, all that heat –
MATTHEW I had to make you trust me. It was the only way to share your powers.
MELINDA And now you have them. So why turn me in? You knew I’d burn.
MATTHEW Had to keep my secret.
MELINDA Keep your trinkets, too.
Melinda yanks the pewter locket from around her neck and throws it at him. He catches it in his hand. MATTHEW I’ll find another witch to give it to.
MELINDA Maybe not.
Matthew opens the locket. A single rose petal falls out. Matthew holds the petal up to examine it. The portal bursts into FLAME, flame that is snuffed out by the rush of WIND that encircles Matthew, wind that emanates from that encircles Matthew, wind that emanates from the locket itself. Matthew tries to move, buy he can’t. MATTHEW What magic is this?
MELINDA I’m taking back the powers you stole from me. (raising her hands) “Outside of time, outside of gain, Know only sorrow, know only pain.”
MATTHEW No!
Matthew SCREAMS in pain as the wind whips to a frenzy around him and sucks him into the locket. Melinda watches with satisfaction as the locket SLAMS shut and falls to the ground. Off the locket:
CARINA: Very fascinating this one, the changes, don't you think.
So Melinda is stated to be 30 in the script. I can't wait to read 'All Halliwell's Eve' next.
So did Sheryl not remember that 1692 going back 30 years is 1662, NOT, 1670, as her birth year was stated in 'All Halliwell's Eve' which she also wrote. I'm a bit disappointed, she couldn't even remember her own script from before.
But, I really wished 'Whispers From the Past' was a real episode. It would make the perfect trilogy with 'The Witch is Back', 'All Halliwell's Eve' and then 'Whispers From the Past' with the Warren trilogy.

"TRIAL BY MAGIC"
The Original Ending as scripted in an earlier draft:
PAIGE My apology....You were right about keeping our secret is the most important thing, I should've listened to you. Do you want more? Should I keep grovelling?
Piper considers... PIPER I know it's hard. It's hard for me, too. There are days when I want to shout it from the rooftop: "Don't you people know I'm making your world a safer place!"
PAIGE Sometimes, it's kinda cool to have a secret though...
PIPER Sometimes it is. And whether I thought it was smart or not,now at least you have one person outside the family you can talk to. (off Paige) But, um, let's try to keep it to one.
Paige smiles at that, then Phoebe hurries in through the closed door with the jury Foreman. LEO Hey, watch it,
PHOEBE Sorry..Nice door, Leo. (to Foreman) Just make yourself comfortable, I'll be right there.
He heads to the Conservatory. PIPER The jury foreman? What's he doing here?
PHOEBE (not quite sure how to put it) He...wants us to conjure up his dead mother.
PIPER WHAT!?
PHOEBE And there are a few other jurors who are hoping to chat with their deceased relatives, too...
PAIGE (to Piper) My turn. (to Phoebe) Excuse me?!
PHOEBE Hey, a seance, or two in exchange for their promise of discretion seems like a fair trade to me. (off their looks) Bright side? At least I finally got a job.
PIPER Shall I remind you Phoebe of the last time you used your powers for a job, way back when...
PHOEBE (Remembering) The Amazing Phoebe. When I wanted to buy Prue the perfect present.
LEO
She flashes a guilty smile then moves off ignoring the reproach of:
PIPER Phoebe? Phoebe?!
PAIGE (mock frustration) Sisters.
Off Piper's glare:
FADE OUT. END OF EPISODE
The AIRED ENDING:
For comparison taken from the transcript site.
CARINA: As much as I love that Prue gets a mention in this ending. I don't know about the original ending. I still like the version where Leo uses the memory dust.

CARINA: Okay, time for me to log off. I hope you all enjoy these. Time to grab some dinner with my family. Looks like the others have caught up with some of their own online stuff they wanted to catch up on too with emails and social media etc., so that's the signal for me to get off too. I'm not sure when I'll be online next as I'll still be away until New Year at least before I'm back home. If not, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Enjoy these.

So they did have some lines about how they got out of the Underworld. Too bad none of those lines made into the final script.
Tyler Layton, who played Melinda, was 30 at the time the episode was made. She quit acting not long long after, which is why she never appeared again on Charmed (according to Wikipedia, she now teaches theatre at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas).
Of course, they could have recast the role, like they did with Victor, but chose not to.
And you're right about All Halliwell's Eve. If Melinda had been born in 1670, that would have made her 22 in 1692, eight years too young.
And note that Melinda has the same last name, Warren, even though she had a child, and no mention of a husband. An unmarried woman having a baby in the Puritan 1600's!? Forget witchcraft, poor Melinda would have been ostracized for that alone!
It will be interesting to see the All Halliwell's Eve script to see if either of those issues were addressed (but got cut out for some reason).
I kind of like it. I don't think the Jury members were asking too much to have a chat with their deceased loved ones.

Charmed Again Part 1
#62015-04-67 "Charmed Again" (pt. 1) 07/16/01 NOTE: Differences in Bold.
CHARMED
"Charmed Again, Part One" PVILLE SAID: Carina, these are fantastic. I can't wait to see all the differences when you have time, but for now, I'll enjoy these ones. PVILLE SAID: So the episode still starts the same as aired. I am curious if the very first draft may have shown what REALLY happened between S3 and S4, before Kern knew Shannen had the rights to her image, and had to write the start of S4 as it were. I still think you can still start S4 where S3 left off from Phoebe's POV, and still work around not showing Prue.
PVILLE SAID: So they have been trying everything for three days. I didn't like that Piper says she needs Prue back, I wished she said we the first time before correcting herself.
PVILLE SAID: Why, oh Why, did they cut out these parts.
Carina, I'm dying to find out, if we actually get to hear them read this eulogy.
PVILLE SAID: I HATE this introduction to Paige, and Shane was a co-worker it seems originally, not just a boyfriend. I don't like this at all. I like skipping right to Paige at her desk. [/div] INSERT - NEWSPAPER Specifically, the OBITUARY section.
Paige??
PVILLE SAID: I like seeing the description of Paige's desk. My memory is bad, but did Paige have a candle at her desk in the aired version?
PVILLE SAID: So we learn more about what happened between S3 and S4, and I guess this did this to make viewers think Cole was going to be killed.
PVILLE SAID: Different way to end the teaser, on the mourning, and not Paige. I'm dying to know, if we get more scenes than the aired version showed. Personally, I don't like that Kern just wrote showning Piper here, I personally would have had it being BOTH Piper and Phoebe at the dresser comforting each other. Why is it just Piper. The Witch is Back

MATTHEW TATE – 30, handsome, strapping.
MELINDA Matthew? So Melinda Warren was 30 years old. The actress was also 30, so she is the same age as her. Very interesting. I did think Melinda was older and closer to Prue's age. Matthew was originally going to be called Matthew Hopkings. I'm glad they got changed it to Tate. I'm not too familiar but what does name changed per clearance report mean. Does that mean, they wanted to use Hopkings, but couldn't due to a clearance report or someone in real life really having that name? PVILLE SAID: More insight into their past, and that Prudence was 10 years old. If Melinda is 30, this means she was 20 when she had her. I did wonder how old Prudence was when she died. PVILLE SAID: I enjoyed reading how this was scripted.
[/div]

PVILLE SAID: Looks like she got it wrong, but I'll be curious what her 'All Halliwell's Eve' script has as the year of Melinda's birth. Those would make a great trilogy. I love the novel 'Whispers From the Past', but I just wished the novel got the years right, they were just as inconsistent as the show was with Melinda's death and birth. CARINA: Okay, time for me to log off. I hope you all enjoy these. Time to grab some dinner with my family. Too bad none of those lines made into the final script.
PVILLE SAID: Yes, that was very interesting to read. Too bad, they didn't make it into the final script or episode. The teaser for Charmed Again 1, had so much more to it, than we saw.PVILLE SAID: So she is now a teacher of theatre, interesting. Too bad, I really wished she appeared again on Charmed.
PVILLE SAID: Too bad they didn't consider that, so we could have seen her again. PVILLE SAID: Yes, looks like they got those dates wrong. Yeah, I imagine so. I really do wonder about Prudence's father. Since she was 10 when Melinda died, he may have been gone. The script makes it sound like Melinda was with Matthew for a while until he betrayed her, since he was also around her daughter Prudence too. PVILLE SAID: Me too, really am curious to see.

Piper sits alone by her dresser, wiping away tears. We feel her pain, and the emotional and painful day she is going to take.
CUT TO MAIN TITLES END OF TEASER
WOW, Carina! The changes are totally amazing - I really wish they'd been part of the aired episode! You bolding the changes works fantastically! I laughed at the "sexy, feisty, lots of personality" part - if that's what they wanted, they really struck out casting Rose McGowan - she didn't play Paige that way at all...but if that scene with Mr. Cowan and Shane had been aired, maybe she would've... I also really like the parts that were taken out of the conversation between Piper and Phoebe, but you can tell why it was done - Kern wouldn't want that much emphasis placed on Prue... Is it okay if I post this for the Café? They'd LOVE to read these changes!

Oh yeah, they really screwed that up.
The plot centers around Phoebe being sent back in time to Salem, of 1676, where she meets Prudence, the daughter of Melinda Warren. Now, if you're wondering how that can be right, you're not alone. Furthermore, the novel says that Melinda Warren was executed in 1654. Yep, she was executed years before she was even born! That was some trick.
Now, this novel did come out before All Halliwell's Eve, which established Melinda's birth year as 1670 (and I did have some issues with that, but that's not relevant here). However, even assuming that Melinda was the same age as Tyler Layton, who played her in The Witch Is Back, this would have made her 30 when she was executed in 1692. That would place her birth year no earlier than 1662.
Yet, this novel says she died in 1654. Duhhhhhhhhh...
And wouldn't Melinda have taken her husband's last name whens he married him. It was tradition at the time.
It was not until the 20th Century, when woman started entering the work force and such, that the practice of keeping her maiden name arose.
Of course, Melinda's husband might have had the same last name, Warren (country singer Alan Jackson's wife, Denise, had the same last name as his, before they got married).
And finally, what happened to this husband. Guess he died young, not uncommon back then.

OOO! That really is a great collection, even if I'm not nuts on 'Charmed Again 2." But it will be interesting to see what's changed in that one, along with the others. Thanks. I like my little collection, I'm not nuts on Charmed Again 2 myself. *nods* I think that's a *very* good idea. But if you add something to a previous post, be sure to post a new one letting us know which episode you updated. That's what we do at the Cafe and it works pretty well that way.

ES SAID: LOL, PVille - my turn to reply to your replies! I tried but just couldn't figure out how to quote with all of the extra tags. So I'll just follow you on the preview page. Charmed Again Part 1
#62015-04-67 "Charmed Again" (pt. 1) 07/16/01 NOTE: Differences in Bold.
PVILLE SAID: Carina, these are fantastic. I can't wait to see all the differences when you have time, but for now, I'll enjoy these ones. ES SAID: Definitely! PVILLE SAID: So the episode still starts the same as aired. I am curious if the very first draft may have shown what REALLY happened between S3 and S4, before Kern knew Shannen had the rights to her image, and had to write the start of S4 as it were. ES SAID: My guess is they already knew when they wrote this. I'm sure they were already planning it while the last half was being filmed but before they knew - hence why they did the first scene of 'All Hell Breaks Loose' in a way where they could've used it in this or having her wear such similar clothes to what she wore in 'Bride and Gloom' like ShiningAllure did in his "The Death of Prue". I truly wish they'd let us know how they planned on doing it, although I doubt it would've been done as well as ShiningAllure did. For those who have never seen ShiningAllure's version: The Story of Prue's Death---------------- PVILLE SAID: I still think you can still start S4 where S3 left off from Phoebe's POV, and still work around not showing Prue. ES SAID: That would be awful tough to make it look real. I can see why they did it the way they did, even if I wish Shannen had given them permission for just this episode and the last episode.
PVILLE SAID: So they have been trying everything for three days. I didn't like that Piper says she needs Prue back, I wished she said we the first time before correcting herself. ES SAID: I really don't like this because I would think something like this is the first thing they'd try. And Piper just concentrating on herself is the way Kern writes her. It would feel out of character if she said "we" the first time. I've got to say I'm glad they cut this out.
PVILLE SAID: Why, oh Why, did they cut out these parts.
Carina, I'm dying to find out, if we actually get to hear them read this eulogy.
ES SAID: And my guess is that's why they cut it out - because there wasn't time for the eulogy. But I do hope it's part of this version of the script. When I got the book that had the original script for 'Titanic', that's what they wrote - they often cut things out due to timing.
Although I can think of parts I would've preferred them cutting out...
PVILLE SAID: I HATE this introduction to Paige, and Shane was a co-worker it seems originally, not just a boyfriend. I don't like this at all. I like skipping right to Paige at her desk. ES SAID: I think I *do* like it - it gives Paige the personality that they did want her to have. I would've preferred this Paige. [/div] INSERT - NEWSPAPER Specifically, the OBITUARY section. The first name reads: PRUE HALLIWELL. The first line reads: "Funeral Services will be held today at Memorial Cemetery, 11:00 a.m....""

Frazzled, she grabs her purse, then ominously notices her candles's no longer lit. She bolts leaving Cowan calling after her: COWAN (Cont'd) Paige? Paige??
PVILLE SAID: I like seeing the description of Paige's desk. My memory is bad, but did Paige have a candle at her desk in the aired version? ES SAID: Yes, she did. This is from the transcript site:
PVILLE SAID: So we learn more about what happened between S3 and S4, and I guess this did this to make viewers think Cole was going to be killed. ES SAID: I'm sure. Again, probably cut due to timing. PVILLE SAID: Different way to end the teaser, on the mourning, and not Paige. I'm dying to know, if we get more scenes than the aired version showed. Personally, I don't like that Kern just wrote showing Piper here, I personally would have had it being BOTH Piper and Phoebe at the dresser comforting each other. Why is it just Piper? ES SAID: I wonder if they didn't find Alyssa's mourning convincing...she was too happy to be the star. But I find it funny that even though Alyssa was supposed to be the new star, replacing Shannen, the last four seasons were much more all about Piper. The Witch is Back

PVILLE SAID: So Melinda Warren was 30 years old. The actress was also 30, so she is the same age as her. Very interesting. I did think Melinda was older and closer to Prue's age. ES SAID: Well, if Prue was 30 when she died, she'd be 28 here. I always thought that Melinda was younger than 30. ------------------ PVILLE SAID: Matthew was originally going to be called Matthew Hopkings. I'm glad they got changed it to Tate. ES SAID: Me, too. ------------------ PVILLE SAID: I'm not too familiar but what does name changed per clearance report mean. Does that mean, they wanted to use Hopkings, but couldn't due to a clearance report or someone in real life really having that name? ES SAID: *nods* I think so - and they didn't give permission to use it. ------------------- He moves toward her. PVILLE SAID: More insight into their past, and that Prudence was 10 years old. If Melinda is 30, this means she was 20 when she had her. I did wonder how old Prudence was when she died. ES SAID: That we don't know. But I also like knowing how old Melinda was when she died. PVILLE SAID: I enjoyed reading how this was scripted. ES SAID: Me, too.
ES SAID: It's frustrating to know that Charmed was this inconsistent way back in S1. I always thought it was just Kern's seasons, but it's not. PVILLE SAID: I loved these Carina. When you have time, I'd love to see more differences. You have a Happy New Year, too, Carina. ES SAID: Me, too. Hope you both (StoryGirl and Deidre, too) have a very Happy New Year!

There were mistakes in the Connie years. Not so many as the Kernus ones though.

I really love you bolding the changes, it works fantastic for us to read the differences, while seeing where it fits in the episode. ----------------------------------- ES SAID: I laughed at the "sexy, feisty, lots of personality" part - if that's what they wanted, they really struck out casting Rose McGowan - she didn't play Paige that way at all...but if that scene with Mr. Cowan and Shane had been aired, maybe she would've... PVILLE SAID: Your right Es, Rose really didn't play Paige that way at all, but I'm curious myself if that scene aired, if she'd play her that way. But, I'm wondering if Rose was cast BEFORE or AFTER this version of the script was written. ------------------------------ ES SAID: I also really like the parts that were taken out of the conversation between Piper and Phoebe, but you can tell why it was done - Kern wouldn't want that much emphasis placed on Prue... PVILLE SAID: Agreed. I can see why they were cut, typical of Kern to not want that much emphasis on Prue. Dying to see what else was cut from both parts of Charmed Again. The fun of seeing the scripts, we get to see the changes and differences, which I find so fascinating. Also very interested to see if some scenes are scripted differently than aired, like a scene has different dialogue than what was aired, and whole scenes play out slightly differently. Like the Trial By Magic ending being different. ---------------------------------- ES SAID: Is it okay if I post this for the Café? They'd LOVE to read these changes! PVILLE SAID: And Carina already replied to this in the shoutbox for you Es. I hope they enjoy it as much as we do.

PVILLE SAID: You are probably right about that Es. ----------------- ES SAID: For those who have never seen ShiningAllure's version: The Story of Prue's Death
PVILLE SAID: That video is one of my favorites Es. So beautiful. ---------------- PVILLE SAID: I still think you can still start S4 where S3 left off from Phoebe's POV, and still work around not showing Prue. ES SAID: That would be awful tough to make it look real. I can see why they did it the way they did, even if I wish Shannen had given them permission for just this episode and the last episode. PVILLE SAID: Don't I wish Es, if Kern didn't fire Shannen over the phone, she may have felt differently. But, I don't blame her for refusing, if that happened to anybody, I'm sure they'd just want nothing to do with their former job and employers. Now, if Kern had simply let Shannen fulfil her contract until the end of Season 4, and then simply killed off Prue, and let Shannen know ahead of time, he was going to write her out for creative reasons, and taking the show in a different direction, and they left on good terms. That's a whole different story. I think that may have been why he fired her in S3 and not at the end of S4 when her contract was up, he may have been worried Holly would not sign on for more.
Yeah, good it got cut.

PVILLE SAID: That's so cool you got the book that had the original script in it, how amazing Es. So cool to read I bet.

ES SAID: Although I can think of parts I would've preferred them cutting out...

PVILLE SAID: So we learn more about what happened between S3 and S4, and I guess this did this to make viewers think Cole was going to be killed. ES SAID: I'm sure. Again, probably cut due to timing. PVILLE SAID: I bet your right. The big difference between network television and cable and streaming, episodes don't have timing restrictions, and can run longer than the standard 42 minutes. I can see why they cut so much out of this teaser. But I find it funny that even though Alyssa was supposed to be the new star, replacing Shannen, the last four seasons were much more all about Piper. PVILLE SAID: That wouldn't surprise me. I do too, funny Alyssa felt like the star only in promoting Charmed and or being billed, but it didn't translate to the show itself. I wonder, if it had more to do with Alyssa just having a better agent and because she was more well known before Charmed than Holly, why she got the And credit, and why she got the top billing. Holly getting the And billing I believe is second most important, after the first in the credits, I could be wrong here. Once Cole was gone, Phoebe didn't have a central arc no more, all her plots were B plots with her love interests, while Piper got all the A plots when the show started to star Piper, Leo, Chris and Wyatt and Phoebe and Paige, felt more like co-stars. Chris felt more important in S6 than Phoebe and Paige. It felt like they were less important than Chris or Leo in S6, and that doesn't sit well with me. I hate when a show makes co-stars more important than the leads. The Witch is Back

And if Holly had chosen to walk, no more series.
What could they have done? Whip up another unknown sister?

I've been curious about scripts since of course, the show has an airing order and a production order. But what about a writing/script order. I'm sure lots of episodes are written and or mapped out in a different order.
An episode could be written or planned but put on hold, for whatever reason. Because I've always thought some episodes feel like they are written differently than the airing order. Like 'Wedding From Hell' felt like it was the second episode written, given the mentions of Chef Moore, as if he was still working here, but aired as the sixth, but filmed as the fifth.
Then there are episodes, that end up being unproduced or scrapped and don't make it past the script stage, and then replaced by another episode.
I always felt like Enter the Demon was an episode planned for Prue and Phoebe, but the outline ended up being turned into Phoebe and Paige after Shannen got fired. The same way Morality Bites, felt like a script that was thrown together, with Piper/Leo's future, and made little mention of Leo's return in the present.

I guess it depends on how a show is made. In the days of yore, most TV show were all stand alone episodes. That way, they could write scripts in any ordered they jolly well pleased.
However, since most shows are serialized now, scripts are probably written months in advance.
However, that can cause problems.
Note in Season Four, when the Phoebe/Cole/Source storyline kicks in, Paige suddenly that this distrust of Cole that seems to come right out of left field. It sounds more like Prue talking, doesn't it.
That's because it was Prue, originally. That whole storyline was originally supposed to open Season Four, so the scripts were all ready. Then, Shannen got fired, and they hastily had to change things. The first part of S4 was then given over to bringing Paige in.
The Phoebe/Cole/Source storyline was pushed back to the latter half of the season. When Kernus decided to go back to said storyline, the writers had been given the time to cross Prue off the scripts and pencil in Paige.
However, this was not the first time Paige was plugged into a story originally meant for Prue.
Another early S4 script, Enter The Demon, was clearly written for Prue and Phoebe. When Shannen was fired, they just put Phoebe in Prue's place and Paige in Phoebe's. If you ask me, they should have dropped the episode. Paige was WAY too new for a body switch story.
