The walls were covered with green gunk left over from a battle with a particularily nasty demon, who had a knack for stealing powerful magical children from their beds at the stroke of midnight. Wyatt was looking at Chris as his younger brother tried to reach for the Book of Shadows, failing miserably because the book was magically moving away. Wyatt guessed it was because Chris was covered in gunk that tended to leave an unpleasant and anti-magical block. Because of this the brothers had to find some other way to get to a spell that freed the children before they ran out of time.
It had been two days since they had started a new type of tracking system for finding demon, but so far it just was proving useless in finding powerful demons or missing magical objects or people such as the Lady of the Lake, a personal friend of the newest leader of fairy world. They had talked to Magical Repairman of every single ruptured piece of the drainage system that took the old house on Main Street. He was not very forthcoming with how to locate someone who missing or evil.
It frustrated the brothers to no end that they did not know where to look for the magical kidnapper they were looking for. The time was slipping away from them. They needed to the children in less than three hours or the kids were going to disappear forever. It had been hours since they had learned anything new. Chris was getting a headache, and Wyatt was begining to lose his cool. Then Wyatt spotted a dot on the Book of Shadows. It was red.
Not sure what it was, Wyatt took a paper and put it against the dot. The dot grew until it was as big as Wyatt's fist and turned purple as the astounded brothers looked on. Something strange was occuring. A human shape began to form out of the dot on the piece of paper. Wyatt looked at as it began to wiggle and jump off the page, alarming the brother. "Follow me," the voice startled, "And you will learn what you have been wanting, but first you have to find a couple of more of these dots and my form will show you something you have been looking for, something that will save them from the death that waits for them if you find me." The dot figure gave a final jump and began fading back into the Book before the brother's eyes. They looked at each for a moment and tried to figure out what to do next. "Should we trust what he said? And where would we find a dot in all the books around here? And is it even possible?" Chris said as he flipped through the book. He stopped as something from the truck parked across the street flashed. There seemed to be a dot in growing into a ball that just kept growing inside the truck.
"It's going to revival magic!" Wyatt exclaimed as he saw the driver slowly be engolfed by the ball. "We have to..." He stopped because the speed of growth was growing at alarming rates. The odd thing was the driver didn't seen to notice anything was there, and so he was just walking out the truck door preparing unload the boxes he'd packed for the old couple moving to be with their son and his young wife. They watched as the dot started to get closer to the brothers. "Maybe they are going to come to us," Wyatt suggested to Chris as he watched the dot start move towards them.
"But why would it be doing this back and have this be just a repitition of what just happened a moment before? What sort help does this gave us?" The dot stopped mid way and turned into a tree in which there was roots digging into the ground. Birds landed on its branches and started to chirp at the brothers. "Find a way to find the bird and make it sing the song about finding the children and me. We don't know which bird it might be or the song it needs to sing. This is getting to be a waste of our time and mind power."
The children were going to die and the stupid demon was laughing at them. It was a sad day to be the children, but if they could move a bit of magical secrets to the brothers then maybe there was hope for them. As if in a dream, the images of children appear before the brothers and begged to grab their hands and help them stop the evil that held them there.
"I've had it!" yelled Chris as another demon appeared. The demon smiled. Chris swung his arm and knocked the demon to ground where Wyatt blinked and a potion hit the demon from above. The demon squirmed, but he did not disappear much to the brothers disappointment. The potion was supposed to kill the Source and it did little to vanquish this minor demon then they were going to figure out something more painful to throw at him. Maybe a brick or a big, sharp rock would do it. Wyatt was about ready orb in a some lava and a very heavy chunk of volcanic rock when the demon started convulsing and blow up.
"We still don't know where the children are or how to kill any other demons like this one who might try kill them, and make time run out even faster," Wyatt complained as the children reappeared. Wide-eyed he tried to figure out how the children got there after being gone.
"We are not safe," one of the children said. "I'm scared. Help us. Grab my hand and don't let go." The other children looked at the brothers with the same hopeful look. "Please?"
"We will," Wyatt said as both brothers nodded without having to talk about it, because their parents always taught them to always help the innocents, especially when the innocent is unable to help themselves. They walked toward the children and took their hands all six of them. They were about to orb away with the children when something pulled them toward the opposite side of the attic, making it imposable for the brothers until light appear out nowhere, filling the room with the same bright light and taking both the brothers and the children to the house of their capture. The demon shimmered out after the brothers show of power ready to fight him and take back the children to the underworld where their parent could not reach them.
The brother looked at the children who were pass around the room by the magic that had brought them all here. Where exactly was the demon and why they were taking these kids? In all the thought, the brother who was paying no mind to his back was being watched by his young cousin, Cilly, who was trying to deturmine what her cousins were up to and if they needed her help weather they want any help or not.
Chris turned around and put a hand out to grab the little spy. "Cilly, are you nuts? You could have been hurt or worse. What would have happened to you if we didn't find you?
Chris turned around and put a hand out to grab the little spy. "Cilly, are you nuts? You could have been hurt or worse. What would have happened to you if we didn't find you? What if the demon had found you? How would you have defended yourself? Cilly, you are an empath, and you can match make, but demon hunt by any stretch of the meaning is not your forte.
